Desafortunadamente las peliculas de los hermanos Lumiere estan protegidas por la legislacion de derechos de autor francesa que cubre la obra de los longevos hermanos lumiere hasta 70 años despues de su muerte y las obras estaran cubiertas minimo hasta el 2020 y puede seguir estando cubiertas mucho mas tiempo si la situacion de copyright sigue como va.

Canon SX130 althought I'd be happy to get any of its cousins SXs. SX130 is a super zoom camera with lots of features in a low profile case no one suspects your taking nice pics.

This is an excerpt of the datasheet of the low voltaje drop regulator im using (PQ05RD21j00h), this also a pretty generic part, you can replace it with a lot of models as long as its output is 5volts and is has a control output you are in.

This is the datasheet description of the sensor i used it really matters little which specific sensor you use as long as you read its datasheet and you are able to make the circuit work with it, if not just ask me politely(I wont answer rude requests nor email anything).

Illumination, chlorophyll and LEDs

Due to the plantule in the tray need for support artificial illumination we must know a few things about photosynthesis so this post will be a little heavy on the reading side but it is a must read.

The main photosynthetic pigment a plant uses to gather energy from the sun is Chlorophyll so it kind of methaphorically uses sun's energy to raise an electron atop a kind of energetic stairway and then lets the electron falls and harnesses the energy gradually released while electron falls step by step, this process is known as the electron transport chain.

Sprouting or germinating plant is more effectively made in what is called a special germination tray where from one to 3 seeds are planted in small portions of a sustrate medium (which can be soil) for enoug time so the seeds sprout and grow big and strong enough to be replanted in a bigger pot usually this happens when the plant is about 2 1/2 inches in length.

DIY Underwater Camera Pt 1. Camera Control.

Control, the issue is always about control. And a Canon consumer camera is one of the most controlable cameras available because of CHDK which is a piece of in-camera software that allows an unprecedented degree of control of a canon camera and its mostly available for consumer Canon models.

So as I've determined in the intro post I decided to use a hard transparent case as a waterproof enclosure, because  I didnt wanted to have any thing to do with waterproofed buttons nor microcontrollers(knocks down Infrared remote options) and the best way is to use a magnet and a hall sensor to actuate the camera. Why not use a reed switch? Because mechanical contacts are electrically noisy and they tend to fail a lot more than solid state stuff.

DIY Underwater Camera.

Hi, thats it im going on a long vacation to a tropical paradise(which sucks if you have no money) and while im there ill be in need of something to do, so apart from HFSSing my thesis and my open source low cost high tech gardening blog/project im starting another one, im planning on getting the camera of my dreams(a canon sx-130-like actually) and im planning to hack it, a lot in DIY style. Sea is free so fisrt thing im gonna do its take pictures underwater.
